FAQ
Several surveys of public safety responders throughout the United States indicate that while most agencies and personnel possess high levels of confidence and skill in the areas of Chemical, Radiological and Nuclear incident response, many of these responders indicate a need for definitive and street smart training in the area of Biological incident responses. Our training team’s regular interactions with emergency responders throughout the country consistently affirm these needs. An 8 hour BioTech IQ course provides our emergency responders with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and tools to rapidly and confidently develop an on scene action plan during biological incidents.
Certainly not death by Powerpoint! Our fast paced program is a very interactive event between instructors and participants. Participants are provided laminated Charts, and a Biological Response Guide (BRG). Our program quickly familiarizes the participants with how to rapidly use the charts to select the proper SOG and Biological Safety Data Sheet. This is followed by interactive scenarios in which the participants utilize these tools to rapidly and confidently identify agent type, CDC classification, Incubation period, mortality rate, exposure routes, signs and symptoms, PPE for initial response, decontamination agents for people and equipment, treatment, appropriate field detection equipment, and sampling considerations. The afternoon session includes hands on use of biological field detection equipment with simulants.
Yes, each course participant is provided with their very own charts and BRG which are theirs to keep. It is recommended that these tools be carried on the participants’ response vehicles for use during biological incident responses.
